For a council or the National Monuments Service
Running Faire for your county
Faire is built to be handed over. One reader (your heritage officer), one admin key, one CSV export. Nothing else to run.
What you get
- Every monument in the county from the SMR with the NMS description, on a map and searchable by townland.
- A public condition report form with photos, GPS distance check, access declaration and consent.
- A reading desk where the heritage officer approves, rejects or marks reports forwarded, with a private note.
- An at-risk list, a county dashboard, and a CSV export of all approved reports with reporter contact details.
- Adopt-a-monument sign-ups for seasonal volunteer checks.
What it costs to run
Hosting about €10 a month (app and database), photo storage a few cents per thousand photos. Development and the pilot can be funded under the Heritage Council Community Heritage Grant (“Heritage at Risk”) or the Department of Rural Development's Digital Innovation Programme (local-authority led, up to €75,000).
What we would add in a funded pilot
- Email alerts to the heritage officer for damage reports and seasonal nudges to adopters.
- A county-branded front page and offline-capable phone app for field use without signal.
- Export in the NMS's own format and a feed into the Historic Environment Viewer.
- A schools and Tidy Towns programme: a townland's monuments adopted by a class.
